Mallory Rayne Salazar was born on July 14, 2007 to Joe David C. Salazar and Jennifer Cavazos Salazar in San Antonio Texas. Mallory was a ray of sunshine from the moment she entered our lives. She gave off an aura of strength, beauty and compassion that caused people to gravitate to her everywhere she went. She had a smile that lit up the room and her giggle was contagious. At the tender age of two and a half she was diagnosed with Juvenile Tay-Sachs Disease. As a result of the wonderful care Mallory received from her team of nurses, doctors and therapists, as well as many prayers and much love, she far exceeded her life expectancy. She courageously fought a long, hard battle and on July 29th 2022 Mallory traded in her wheels for wings and is now free from Tay-Sachs Disease.Mallory was preceeded in death by her father Joe David C. Salazar, grandfathers John A. Cavazos and Joe D. Salazar and several of her Tay-Sachs friends.Mallory is survived by her mother, Jennifer Cavazos Salazar, brother Matthew Jae C. Salazar, sister Madelyn RaeLynne Salazar (Jaren Garcia), grandparents Sandra Salazar-Smith, Martin Smith, Janie Vela-Cavazos, Janice and Barry Hamill, great-grandmothers Roberta Betts and Amelia Cavazos and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Mallory is pure perfection and she will live on as a 15 year old princess in the hearts of those who loved and cared for her.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made in memory of Mallory to The Cure Tay-Sachs Foundation, NTSAD or light a candle in her memory at St. Jude's Catholic Church.
