A Katrina evacuee from New Orleans, she found a new home in San Antonio. She was welcomed with open arms and was impressed and comforted by the generosity of the city. Along with other New Orleans family members, she was living here under the care of her niece and nephew, Mary and Richard Palmer.
During her time in San Antonio, she became involved in Women's Bible Study through Community Bible Church and also a local Red Hat Society Social Club.
She is survived by her husband Leslie W. Bernos and many nieces and nephews.
