Manijeh Afkhaminia Simmons, age 63, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2022, in Houston, Texas. She was born on March 31, 1959, in Tehran, Iran to Mahin Zare Kashani and Mohsen Afkhaminia. Manijeh was devoted to her family, friends, and to all people as a human rights activist. She had a deep spiritual practice that allowed her to make the most of her time here on earth while understanding that her spirit had a path beyond this life.
She cherished spending time outdoors while being as active as possible, she didn't like to sit still. She had grown her private practice as a licensed professional counselor supervisor so that she and her other counselors could help as many people as possible.
She was preceded in death by her father, Mohsen Afkhaminia. Manijeh is survived by her daughter, Tina Vaziri Poe; mother, Mahin Zare Kashani; sister, Mitra Afkhaminia; brother, Iraj J. Ghanbar; and brother, Arash Afkhaminia.
