

Manuel was born the third oldest of six children in Nueva Rosita, Coahuila Mexico on November 24, 1954. He worked in the service industry for over forty five years before retiring from Mi Tierra Cafe & Bakery in San Antonio, TX. He had a passion for serving people and he was able to do that in the restaurant industry.
Not only was he a server for many years, he was also a teacher and a philanthropist. He taught English to adults at the Bazan Library in the west side of San Antonio in the 1990s and recently to children in Mexico. Upon retirement, he continued to serve his community by donating school supplies, backpacks and food to under privileged families. Some hobbies he enjoyed were going to casinos with his niece and traveling.
Manuel never married or had children. He dedicated his time to his nieces and nephews in which he considered his children. He constantly gave to most, until the very end. He will greatly be missed.
He is survived by his sister, Eva Alderete, numerous nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Guillermo and Margarita Castro, brothers Guillermo Castro, Juventino Castro, sisters Catalina Castro Galaviz, Beatriz Castro Nava.
