Manuel was a Vietnam era veteran, and served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1966. He was assigned to the 526th Military Intelligence Detachment in Okinawa, where he was stationed until the completion of his enlistment. Upon returning to Texas, Manuel began a 30 year career in the Federal civil service, retiring from Kelly AFB.
While working at Kelly AFB, Manuel met the love of his life, Rosalinda in 1967, and they were married in 1970, spending over 50 years together. When he would hear of other couples renewing their vows, he would say that he didn’t need to that, because when he married Rosie, it was for all his life. Manuel also had four children, and they will miss his calm demeanor, silly disposition, and overwhelming generosity. His grandchildren will miss his laughter, his tickles, and him chasing them around the house.
Manuel had a lifelong passion for aviation photography, and his proximity to airfield at Kelly AFB allowed him to capture some fine examples of rare aircraft on film. Manuel also had a green thumb, and neighbors and family shared the fruits from his prized grapefruit tree, which he planted as a seedling in front of the family home.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Roy Richard Arlen Delgado, and is survived by his wife Rosalinda Delgado; Children Robert Joseph Delgado, Edward Alan Delgado (Jacqueline Rae McKeon), Nicholas Ely Delgado, and Jennifer Rose Delgado; Grand Children Gunner Patrick, Lincoln Grayre, Presley Monroe, Ryker Joseph and NiKlaus Edward; his brother Ben Roger Delgado (Rosanne) and sister Marcella D. Salazar (Ramon A.
