

Manuel Fernando Lizcano passed peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, September 3, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 81. Manuel was born on November 8, 1938 in San Antonio, TX, attended Sacred Heart Elementary School, graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1956, attended St. Mary’s University freshman year and graduated from the University of Texas in Austin, TX in 1967 with a degree in Math and Engineering and earned his professional engineering (PE) license in 1968. He married Olga Otilia Garcia in 1965. After moving back to San Antonio from Austin, Manuel began his engineering career working for Travis Braun and Ford, Powell and Carson, Inc. He started his own company; Lizcano Consulting Engineers, providing service for over 35 years, specializing in mechanical, electrical, air conditioning, heating and refrigeration designs. He was proud to have worked on many notable projects including: Renovations for San Fernando Cathedral, San Antonio Riverwalk Commission, numerous projects at the McNay Art Museum, the Grand Opera House in Galveston, Tx, the Old Ursuline Academy, several historical buildings at Fort Sam Houston, and many others. He also worked at Randolph-Brooks AFB as a civilian for about 10 years. Manuel is preceded in death by his parents Valeriano Manuel Lizcano of La Acencion, Mexico and Marina Cantu Lizcano, of Piedras Negras, Mexico. He is survived by wife, Olga Garcia Lizcano, children; Cybele Bolado (Neto), Marcela Ehardt (Joseph); Fernando Lizcano (Carolina),and grandchildren; Noel Bolado Hall (Tyler), Clarissa Bolado Bové (Paul), Juliann Bolado, Analisa Lizcano, and Alexandra Lizcano. And his Sister; Guadalupe Rios, with numerous nieces and nephews.
Manuel loved to read and enjoyed music and Broadway musicals. He at one time taught bicycle safety classes and road his bicycle with The San Antonio Wheelman, from San Antonio to Corpus Christi. He was passionate about serving as the Emeritus-Historian and past president for ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-conditioning Engineers). He loved to laugh and tell jokes. His favorite memories were the special trips he took with Olga to Mexico, Spain, and France.
A rosary is scheduled for 6:30 pm on Monday, September 7 at Porter Loring Mortuaries on 1101 McCullough, San Antonio Texas 78212. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery will be held privately due to COVID-19.
