Manuel Manrique

Manuel nació en el pueblito de Matanzas en Jalisco, México el 31 de enero de 1960, hijo de Arturo Manrique Sr. y Gregoria Altamira.

A la edad de 17 años, Manuel emigró al norte con amigos y viajó por el Valle del Río Grande para establecerse en Rosenberg, Texas. Pagó sus cuotas como trabajador de construcción y aprendió a hablar inglés en el trabajo escuchando a Willy Nelson, George Strait y cantantes de country igual, lo cual fue entendido por la mayoría de los compañeros de trabajo, incluso nunca entendimos realmente cómo.

Manuel era amigo de todos con los que trabajaba, construyendo casas tan sólidas como paso construyendo sus amistades. Subió a ser mentor, entreno y contrató a muchos trabajadores inmigrantes jóvenes cuando se convirtió en empresario y comenzó Manuel Manrique Construction. Se ganó los títulos de "el patrón" y "el maestro" por muchos años. Siempre dispuesto a servir a quien demandará una ayuda, y con gran sentido del humor, fue muy apreciado por sus colegas, amigos, y en fin, por toda su comunidad.

Manuel no era nada, si no un hombre de familia. Le encantaba construir una vida con su esposa e hijos. Nada lo hacía sentir más en paz que pasar un fin de semana familiar, Thanksgiving o Año Nuevo en el rancho familiar con un asada y viendo juegos deportivos y fuegos artificiales. Atesoraba las reuniones familiares extendidas en su rancho amado.

Manuel es precedido en muerte por su padre Arturo Manrique Sr; Con décadas de recuerdos bonitos, le sobreviven su amada esposa Nora, sus hijos Krystal, Kristian y Jackie, su madre Gregoria, los hermanos Pablo, Arturo, Lupe, Ricardo, Rosa, Cecilia y Javier, demasiados sobrinos y sobrinas para contar, y seis amados nietos (perritos), incluido a la Kookie, su compañera de sofá favorita.

El velorio se llevará a cabo el viernes 13 de agosto en Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Rd, de 4 a 8 pm con un servicio fúnebre a las 7 pm. El entierro tendrá lugar el sábado 14 de agosto por la mañana en Sunset Memorial Park en el jardín de la paz a las 10:30 am.

Manuel Manrique Altamira, age 61, passed away Monday, August 9, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas.

Manuel was born in the incredibly small pueblo of Matanzas in Jalisco, Mexico on January 31, 1960 to Arturo Manrique Sr. and Gregoria Altamira.

At the ripe age of 17, Manuel migrated north with friends and traveled through the Rio Grande Valley to settle in Rosenberg, Texas. He paid his dues as a construction worker and learned to speak English on the job listening to Willy Nelson, George Strait and country singers alike, which was understood by most coworkers even if we never really understood how.

Manuel was a friend to all he worked with, building houses as solid as he built his relationships. He went on to mentor, train and hire many younger immigrants when he became an entrepreneur and started Manuel Manrique Construction. He earned the endearing titles, “el patron” and “el maestro” over many many years.

Manuel was nothing, if not a family man. He loved building a life with his wife and kids. Nothing made him feel more at peace than spending a family weekend, Thanksgiving or New Years at the family ranch cooking BBQ and watching sports games and watching fireworks. He treasured extended family gatherings at his beloved ranch.

Manuel is preceded in death by his father Arturo Manrique Sr; Left with decades of fond and feel-good memories are his beloved wife Nora, children Krystal, Kristian and Jackie, mother Gregoria, siblings Pablo, Arturo, Lupe, Ricardo, Rosa, Cecilia and Javier, too many nephews and nieces to count, and six beloved grandchildren (dogs) including Kookie, his favorite couch companion.

Visitation will take place on Friday, August 13, at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Rd, from 4 - 8 PM with a funeral service at 7 PM. A burial service will be held on Saturday morning, August 14, at Sunset Memorial Park in the peace garden at 10:30 AM.
