

Manuel M. Peña, Jr. went home to God on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2007. Born in Mission, Texas, on July 16, 1918, he attended college at the University of Texas and served overseas with the Army during World War II.
He returned home and graduated from St. Mary's Law School. He married Virginia I. Miller from Brownsville, settled in San Antonio, and spent more than 50 years practicing law. He was proud to say that he had successfully pleaded cases before the Texas Court of Appeals.
Manuel and Virginia raised two sons and two daughters with joy, love and patience. He and Virginia were together for 58 years before her death; he missed her very much.
He is survived by Terri Peña Ross and son-in-law, Allan S. Ross; Manuel M. Peña III and daughter-in-law, Anna Flores Peña; Michael R. Peña and Linda M. Peña; four grandchildren: Amy Ross Sanders and husband, Josh; Meghann Ross Leinweber and husband Peter; Matthew I. Peña and Amanda C. Peña; sister, Christina Vasquez; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Baptist Hospital Northeast for their kind and gentle care in his last illness.
