

Margaret Anne Knolk Christie, age 84 of San Antonio, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 16, 2009. Margaret was born August 24, 1925 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Paul and Carol Knolk. She moved with her family to San Antonio in 1927 where she attended Jefferson High School and Trinity University.
On October 11, 1944 she married the great love of her life, Douglas S. Christie, Jr., her husband of 65 years. A dedicated Air Force wife, she lived at many military bases around the United States and in Japan.
In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Margaret was for many years an active volunteer for the American Red Cross and Officer's Wives Club charities and was an avid bowler, gardener and member of the Inspiration Hills Garden Club. She and Douglas spent most of their retirement years living among old and new friends at the Air Force Village II in San Antonio.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents.
Her life was enriched not only by her devoted husband, but also her two children, Carol Christie Hansen of Fredericksburg and Douglas S. Christie III of San Antonio; son-in-law, Roger Hansen; daughter-in-law, Linda Christie; and Margaret's sister, Pauline Knolk Denham and brother-in-law Ernest J. Denham. She was always extremely proud of her four grandchildren and their spouses, Christie and TJ Curry of Bonney Lake, Washington; Randall and Erin Hansen of Naples, Italy; Lisa and Richard Kattmann of Boerne; and David and Kristin Christie of Houston; her two great-granddaughters, Emily and Jamie; as well as nieces and nephew Patty Denham Hill, Kaye Denham Turley, Paul Denham and their families. Margaret will be missed by her family and her many friends. She loved her extended family and strove always to be a gracious hostess to all visitors until the very end of her life.
