

Margaret Anne Cusenbary passed away peacefully on May 28, 2024, at the age of 88 in San Antonio, Texas. Born on October 20, 1935, in San Angelo, Texas, Margaret lived a life marked by her friendly spirit and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
Margaret spent her formative years in San Angelo, where she graduated from San Angelo High School. Her journey as a proud military wife began when she married Charles Lee Cusenbary, who predeceased her. Together, they navigated the challenges and joys of military life, a testament to her strength and adaptability.
Her role as a mother was one she cherished deeply. Margaret was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Karen Anne Cusenbary, but her legacy lives on through her son, C. Lee Cusenbary, Jr., and her adored grandchildren, Charles Lee Cusenbary, III, Erin Elizabeth Cusenbary (Wesley Scott), and Cassandra (formerly Rex) Cusenbary. She was the daughter of Weaver Overholser and Hazel Lovell Emberlin Overholser, both of whom predeceased her.
Margaret's zest for life was evident in her diverse interests. She had a passion for travel, exploring new cultures, and embracing the beauty of the world. Art held a special place in her heart, and she dedicated many years as a docent at the McNay Art Museum, sharing her knowledge and appreciation with visitors. She enjoyed playing tennis with Charles in her younger years and spent many summers and winters enjoying the mountains in Durango, Colorado.
Her involvement with the Holly Garden Club since 1982 was more than a pastime; it was a reflection of her love for nature and community service. Margaret's presence was a gift to the club, and her contributions will be remembered fondly by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Her passing only six weeks after the death of her beloved Charles is a surprise to no one. Theirs was a true love story, and she simply could not live without him.
Margaret's legacy is one of giving, and her generous nature touched the lives of many. She will be deeply missed by those who loved her.
She was laid to rest alongside Charles at a private graveside service in Sonora, Texas on June 1, 2024.
