

A fifth generation Texan and lifetime San Antonian, her parents were Julia and former San Antonio Mayor Gus B. Mauermann. Her ancestors came to Texas before Stephen F. Austin and were very prominent in establishing Texas freedom.
She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1943, attended Hockaday Junior College for one year, spent one year in Panama and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1949.
She married Richard Blair Dick Jackson in 1950. An active member of First Presbyterian Church, San Antonio, her great great grandfather Asa Mitchell was instrumental in helping found First Presbyterian Church, the first protestant church in San Antonio.
Mrs. Jackson served as Bible moderator for many years. She is past president of the Women of First Presbyterian Church, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Alamo Mission Chapter and Military Civilian Club. She was also Treasurer-General of DRT. She willingly gave much time to maintain and preserve the Alamo. Mrs. Jackson was a current member of Olmos Park Garden Club, Holly Garden Club and several bridge clubs.
Her husband predeceased her in 1991. Together, they were members of the Town Club, Revelers and Lamplighters Club.
Margaret Jackson is survived by four children, Martha James and husband, John, Richard Hiram Hike Jackson and wife, Valorie, Mary Margaret Alexander and husband, James and Dr. R. Blair Jackson and wife, Sheila, all of San Antonio; grandchildren, Russell, Daniel and Emily Jackson, Jamie and William Alexander and Richard, Kelly and Christopher Jackson; four sisters, Lenora Norton Mrs. Malcolm E., Grace Allen Mrs. Charles H., Julia Hays and husband, Ned S. and Mildred Morton and husband, Stanley; and numerous nieces and nephews
