

Margaret Byrd Spencer was born in Eagle Pass, Tx, September 13, 1929, to parents Mr. Bonnie Lee Price and Ruth Elizabeth Byrd Cowen. She was baptized in the Episcopal Church at Holy Trinity Church of Carrizo Springs November 22, 1936. Margaret was an outstanding educator. Receiving her Associate of Arts at Stephens College in Columbia, Mo. Received her Bachelor of Education from the University of Texas in Austin. Additionally, Margaret obtained her Master's in Speech Pathology. She did the placement testing for one of the largest school districts in San Francisco.
She was a wonderful friend to both family and friends, with a fabulous sense of humor. Margaret made a difference in the lives of so many and will be missed by all who knew her. From growing up on a ranch appreciating the land, a duchess in the Order of the Alamo coronation, pledging her Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority at the University of Texas, serving on her Condo Board, or cooking a delicious meal, Margaret always brought friendship and leadership to all who knew her. An excellent horsewoman, she also loved dogs and cats that loved her right back.
She was truly unselfish with her time and talents. Margaret will be missed by all who knew her and her giving spirit.
Margaret was predeceased by her mother, Ruth Cowen and stepfather Jim Cowen. She is survived by her sister, Patricia Byrd Evans. Additionally, survived by numerous attentive family and friends.
A Graveside service will take place on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Edgewood Cemetery in Crystal City, Tx.
