Beloved wife and mother Margaret Elizabeth (Beth) van Maanen Beatty passed away on Monday, March 16, 2015 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born September 29, 1936 in Dallas, Texas to Elizabeth McDowell van Maanen and Herman G. van Maanen. She graduated Highland Park High School in Dallas and attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, graduating in 1958 with a B.A. in Spanish/Business. She was Chapter President of the Pi Beta Phi Fraternity and was hired as a Graduate Counselor for the chapter at Rollins College in Florida the year following her graduation. She continued to serve Pi Phi both locally and at the national level throughout her life. She was a founding member of the Bay Area Alumnae club and an active member of the San Antonio Alumnae club. She was a member of the Fraternity's Grand Council from 1989 - 2001, serving as Grand President 1995 - 2001. Beth loved working with college women at chapters across the nation, and after her retirement she hosted a Bible study group for Trinity women students in her home. She was always active in the life of the Church as a Bible student and teacher, an ordained elder and a loving, caring intercessor.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Jane Pratt of Lafayette, LA.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Charles Beatty; daughter, Liz Beatty; daughter, Beverly Nester and husband Shannon Nester; and grandchildren, Morgan and Luke Nester.
