Margaret "Peggy" Zolninger

In her early adult life, Margaret served as Secretary to the President of St. Mary’s University where she was introduced to her husband of 35 years, Lamar Zolninger. She traveled overseas with her military husband and was consummate mother and homemaker. Peggy enjoyed cooking for her family and friends which was evident by her winnings of multiple local cooking contests and hostessing many dinner parties.

An avid reader, it was not unusual for her to read the books her children were assigned for school in order to help with book reports. She was also a sports fan and enjoyed watching her boys play football and supporting the Cowboys in the Landry/ Staubach days. She reveled in making Birthdays and Christmas extra special for her children. She truly was a wonderful mother and friend.

Peggy was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and later transferred to St. Pius X Catholic Church where she was active in the bereavement committee. She found great joy in purchasing food and clothing for The Society of St. Vincent De Paul Food Bank.

Margaret was predeceased by her parents and husband, Lamar Zolninger. Margaret is survived by her brother Harvey Frank Cunov Jr. and her five children; Garry and wife Theresa, Greg and wife Debbie, Griff and wife Dayna, Suzan and husband Devlin and Grant and wife Julie. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; Cristin Zolninger, Ashleigh Church, Anna Mink, Johnathon Zolninger, Layne Zolninger, Aren Zolninger, Bailey Bullock, Lia Bullock and Chad Zolninger. She had seven great grandchildren, four nephews and one niece.

The family gives everyone at Golden Age Assisted Living their sincerest gratitude for caring for her in her last days.

A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held Monday December 7, 2015 at 11:30am at Sunset Funeral Home. Graveside services will take place at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 2:30pm Monday December 7, 2015. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Society of St. Vincent De Paul at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Margaret’s name.
