Margarita Soliz Garza, affectionately known as “Margie”, passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at the age of 80 in San Antonio, Texas. Born on June 10, 1940 in Laredo, Texas, she is preceded in death by her parents, Noe Sanchez and Amada Soliz; and her sisters, Alicia Salazar and Manuela Medina.
Margarita attended Laredo Martin High School and graduated in 1958. She later moved to San Antonio, Texas, and in 1974, she was hired as a teacher’s assistant at Collins Garden Elementary School where she held numerous positions totaling in 27 years of service that earned her several awards with the San Antonio Independent School District. One of those awards she was most proud of was when she was selected as Best Community Liaison for the entire San Antonio District.
Mrs. Garza will be greatly missed by all of her family.
Margarita is survived by her beloved husband, Juan P. Garza; her daughters, Ana Piedras (Adolfo), Elizabeth Fuentes (Lee Roy), and Diana Arocha; her grandchildren, Melissa Piedra, Mark Piedra (Alexis) and her numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who loved her.
Due to restrictions on public gatherings, the services for Margie will be private gathering for immediate family.
