She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesus and Guadalupe Lopez; son Heriberto L. Perez and sisters, Ursula Lopez and Guadalupe "Lupita" Marquez.

She is survived by her children, Mary Alice Flores (Gilbert), Carol Perez, Marty Perez, Jorge Perez, John Perez (Ashley), Rene Nieto (Mayra), Marco Nieto, Daniel Nieto (Elizabeth); grandchildren, Michael Pineda, Alexis Pineda, and Christopher Pineda, Jonathan Garza, Ursula Perez, Joshua Perez, Jessica Perez, Andres Perez, Michaela Parker, Jacob Perez, Craig Perez, Matthew Perez, Emerald Sanchez, Carlos Rene Andrade-Nieto, Mikaela Mendez, Maggie Purvis, Emily Nieto, Anthony Nieto, Liliana, Alexander Nieto, Alyssa Nieto; great grandchildren, Marlee, Hayley, Janelle, Julian, Sophia, Serenity, Adianna, Ezekiel, Ian, Jesus, Damien, Kai, Luna, Noah, Brooke, Ernesto, Athena, Madalyn, Quinn and siblings, Cecilia Wojdan (Michael) and Antonio Lopez.

Maria was a woman whose heart overflowed with love, gratitude, and creativity. From an early age, she learned the joy of making homemade tortillas in her family’s kitchen, a skill she cherished and shared generously throughout her life. Her home was always warm with the aroma of fresh food and the sound of laughter. Above all, she lived to praise Jesus. Her days were filled with prayer, worship, and an unwavering faith that uplifted everyone around her. Whether listening to her favorite psalms, reading scripture, or simply offering kind words, she was a living testament to God’s love. She also found great joy in crafting, she would turn trash into treasure, an example would be her snowmen made from a simple water bottle.

Maria will truly be missed but will live on in our hearts forever.

A visitation for Maria del Socorro will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Trevino Funeral Home, 2525 Palo Alto Rd, 78211 with a Prayer Service to begin at 7:00PM. A funeral service will occur Thursday, May 29, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Trevino Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life reception will be held after services at John and Ashley Perez's residence 6006 Paddock Dr., San Antonio, TX 78238

Interment will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025 at 11:15 AM at San Fernando Cemetery III.
