Maria dedicated much of her life to serving others with kindness and compassion. She proudly worked as the Cafeteria Manager in the Training School at NEISD, where she nourished not only students but also the sense of community around her. Her servant’s heart extended far beyond her career through countless volunteer hours with the North East Senior Center, the San Antonio Food Bank, and the Boy Scouts of America.
She lived her life with unwavering faith and found joy in the simple blessings that surrounded her. She had a deep love for her four grandchildren, dancing, music, cooking, and creating lasting memories with her family including her beloved great-grand dogs. Whether tending to her yard, staying active outdoors, or gathering loved ones around the table, Maria embraced every moment with enthusiasm and gratitude.
A devoted sports fan, she rarely missed the opportunity to cheer on her favorite teams, faithfully supporting the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and San Antonio Spurs, while also enjoying any tennis match, she could find. Her vibrant spirit, generous heart, and steadfast love for family and faith leave behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Jose Diaz; brothers Juan “Johnny” Roman, Jesus “Chuy” Roman; and sister, Martha Belmontes. Maria is survived by her daughter Olga Clark; son Jamie Diaz (Stephanie); grandchildren Alexis Violet Clark, Nathaniel Joseph Diaz (Alexis), Johnathan Thomas Diaz, Isabel Ana Elise Diaz; and sister Consuelo “Chelo” Elizondo; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
