Maria Elena Leija

On Friday, November 6th, Heaven gained another angel when beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister passed away at age 88. Maria Elena Leija, who most knew as Elida, lived in San Antonio, TX.

Maria had a love for life, laughter, her family and most of all God. Her laugh was ebullient. Her faith was unwavering, her love was everlasting

Many of her grandchildren will agree that, “we were lucky enough to grow up with a grandmother that was always present. We loved to listen to her stories, we traveled with her to Mexico and through the United States, we spent every holiday with her as kids, played games and we’d sing and dance with her...those memories will always be with us”

Maria was a blessing to be around and no one ever left her without making sure to get a “bendicion”. Her Bendiciones (blessings) were weighted with the love her family carried around when not in her presence.

Maria is survived by her husband, David; Daughters; Josefina, Rosa, Helen, Yolanda, Mirta, Jisela, Irma, Alma, and Elizabeth; Sons; Ricardo , Jose Luis, Jose Alonzo, Blas; 47 grandchildren and a growing number of great grandchildren, many of who had the pleasure of being a part of her life. Maria Elena leaves behind a beautiful legacy & will be dearly missed by her love ones.

Visitation hours will be held November 15th at Porter Loring Mortuary N located at 2102 SH-1604 Loop E, San Antonio, TX 79232 between the hours of 2:30-5 with a rosary to follow between 5-6 pm.

Mass will be held at St Joseph-Honey Creek Catholic Church followed by funeral services starting at 10 am located at 25791 State Hwy 46 W, Spring Branch, TX 78070
