Maria first met her husband, Alfredo "Blackie", when they attended Hawthorne Middle School together. They met several years later and were married for 42 years. Maria worked as a seamstress specializing in drapery curtains for Miller Curtain Company for 40 years. She enjoyed water aerobics, friendships at the Good Samaritan Center, bingo and her plants.
She was a woman who prayed fervently and was also praised for her good cooking in which no one complained. She was a advocate for Autism Awareness. Her greatest love though was spending time with all of her family, anytime, anywhere.
She is survived by her husband, Alfredo "Blackie" Lerma; daughters, Maria Dolores Freitag and husband Gunther, twins, Sophia Gonzales and Sarah Duke, Frances Ramirez and husband Albert; son, Ahren W. Duke, III; 7 grandchildren, Ana Marie Ramirez, Albert Ramirez, Jr., Jennifer Gonzales, Richard J.
