Maria was faithful and devoted in her prayers, living out her Catholic faith through a deep and consistent practice of prayer. She expressed her faith through writing personal prayers and, whenever asked, lifting up the needs and intentions of her family and friends with heartfelt care. She was a true prayer warrior for so many. She also honored our country through 20 years of devoted service as a military spouse, standing faithfully beside her husband through the sacrifices and challenges that came with military life. Her love, generosity, laughter, and unwavering spirit will live on in the hearts of all she touched.
Maria loved spending time with her friends and family, sharing laughter and making memories. She loved shopping, playing bingo, listening to music, singing, and dancing. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Ortegon; her parents and 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Maria leaves behind a legacy through her daughters, Maria E. (Andrew) Garza, Yvonne (Sal) Martinez and Lynna (Hector) Salas; grandchildren, Bianca, Joseph, Jonathan, Hector Jr., Natalie and Jacob; great grandchildren, Daniel, Saleen, Malakai, Armani, Nicole and Joseph V; siblings, 7 sisters and 4 brothers; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
