Maria Delia “Kinos” Aleman Rosas was born May 12, 1933, in Victoria, Texas. She passed away on July 29, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas, at Vitas Inpatient Hospice Unit, after a long illness, surrounded by her devoted, loving children: Frank Rosas, Kathy Rosas, Christina Rosas and George Rosas.
Kinos was the daughter of Fannie Molina Aleman and Frank H. Aleman, of the popular Aleman’s Restaurant in Victoria, Texas.
Mother was fortunate to have two life-long friends: Jo Anne Hough and Mary Lou DeLeon.
Mom met Jo Anne while both were in the First Grade at Nazareth Academy in Victoria, Texas and where they both eventually graduated from High School. Jo Anne, we want you to know Mom loved you so much. Her face lit up every time she would receive a phone call or card from you. We placed every prayer card you sent over Mom’s heart which provided much comfort and peace.
Mary Lou DeLeon and Mom were neighbors who remained friends for life and were in each other’s weddings. They were fortunate to continue as work colleagues during their time working at the Victoria County Tax Office. Mary Lou, thank you for your life-long friendship and being like a sister to Mom and for providing Mom with love and support for over 70 years.
There is no better way to describe our mother than her nickname of Kinos, given to her by her father, whom she adored. Mom explained to us that her father told her Kinos means “beautiful one”. There will never be another one as beautiful as our lovely mother, Kinos. She is the first, the last and the only beautiful one we will ever know. There will never be another Kinos.
Mother was preceded in death by her parents, Frank H. Aleman and Fannie Molina Aleman; her sister, Aurora and our father, Pedro Rosas, Jr.
She is survived by her children: Frank Aleman Rosas, Kathy Rosas (Anna Alvarez-Rosas), Christina Rosas (Michael Crocken) and George Rosas (Alice Nguyen).
As mother became ill so quickly in April of 2025, the family would like to express deep gratitude to her in-home caregiver: Ileana De La Garza.
The family also wishes to express gratitude to her trusted physician, Dr. Crystal Chavez. Thank you for providing our mother with years of trusted, kind, compassionate, comprehensive care.
The family would also like to thank the enormous kindness and assistance provided by her VITAS Healthcare both while admitted in their VITAS Inpatient Hospice Unit at Villa Rosa and to her assigned field team of Dr. Marvin R. Mosczkowicz, MD; Ronnie Ramos, Chaplain David Tankersley, Fr. Juan, Fr. Michel, Tanja Zimmerman, LMSW, and THE greatest champion of all advocates for our mother, Sharon Gordon, RN. Sharon, thank you for your trusted care and tireless advocacy for our mother, for being her voice and bringing to light her medical needs. You epitomize compassion and patient advocacy!
Special thanks also to the staff of the VITAS Inpatient Unit at Villa Rosa who took care of mother to her last day. In particular dear to our mother’s heart are her nurses, Bianca and Edna who loved and cared for our mother as if she were their own. And, to Mia, her C.N.A. Thank you for providing mother with loving care with your kind and caring hands and heart.
