Terri was born on February 14, 1947, in Falfurrias, Texas, to Maria Reyes Lemus and Antonio Lemus. She attended the University of Texas at Denton, where she earned her Master’s Degree in Nursing.
In 1968, Terri enlisted in the United States Army and served as a Registered Nurse during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1969. Over her distinguished 25-year military career, she rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. She served as Officer in Charge (OIC) of the Operating Room at several Army Medical Centers, including Tripler Army Medical Center, Letterman Army Medical Center, Fort Bragg, the Presidio in San Francisco, and Fort Sam Houston.
After retiring from the Army, Terri continued her service to others in civilian life. She became OIC of the Operating Department at Santa Rosa Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, and later joined the faculty at San Antonio College as a professor in the Associate Nursing Program. Following her second retirement, she devoted her time to Quest, a tutoring program for low-income nursing students. Through her guidance, many students successfully completed their coursework and passed the Texas Board of Nursing Exam. Over the years, her family often encountered former students during medical visits—each one delighted to see their beloved mentor again.
Terri was preceded in death by her parents, Maria Reyes Lemus and Antonio Lemus; her brother, Antonio Lemus Jr.; and her daughter, Kathryn Marie Sweet.
She is survived by her sisters, Dolores Delgado and Concepción Anguiano, and her brothers, Guadalupe Lemus, Luis Lemus, Mike Lemus, and Eduardo Lemus.
A Rosary will take place at 9:30 am August 29, 2025 with Funeral services immediately following at 10:00am. Both will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church located at 4411 Moana Dr., San Antonio, TX 78218.
