SSgt Mariano Gomez, 30, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2014. He is preceded in death by his step-father, Carlos Rivas, and grandparents, Jesse Cabrera, Santos Cabrera, and Ricardo Gomez. He is survived by his wife, Rosalie Gomez; his mother, Norma Cabrera Perales; father, Mariano Gomez, Sr.; grandparents, Maria R. Gomez and Raul & Minnie Rivas; and his siblings, Samantha Rivas, Nicolas Rivas, Monika Roe, and Elisa Gomez.
Born in San Antonio, Mariano Gomez graduated from Roby High School in 2002. He served five and a half years in the US Air Force and worked in Space Operations. He will be remembered for his big, joyous smile, his ability to make people happy with a joke or story, and his generous love for family and friends.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, April 6 at 5p.m. with a prayer service at 7p.m. at Trevino Funeral Home on Palo Alto Rd. Funeral services will take place Monday, April 7 at 10a.m. at Westover Hills Assembly of God and 12p.m. at Fort Sam Houston.
