Marie M. Borrego

On Thursday, June 21, 2018, our beloved mother, wife, grandmother and sister, Marie M. Borrego (Nilda), age 80, went to be with the Lord. She was a proud graduate of Fox Tech High School, class of 1956. She retired from the Veteran's Administration after 28 years in the audiology department.

A true home body, she enjoyed cooking so many of our favorite meals for the family. She was an avid organizer, had a place for everything. She was very loving and supportive of her family; very forgiving, patient and kind.

One of her passions was music and dancing. A vivid memory shared, dating back to Ricky Ware, radio station KTSA ~ Mom wrote a poem which won a date with Elvis! She was on "cloud nine" as she danced with Elvis and was whisked for a ride in his "Pink Cadillac"!

Marie is preceded in death by her parents, Jesus and Delia Mendoza and her brother, Jose Humberto, and sister-in-law, Ernestina.

She is survived by her husband, Raul J. Borrego; children: Yvonne Borrego and Yvette Johansen; grandchildren: Karl Johansen and Ethan Johansen; brothers: Jesus Mendoza, Joe Mendoza (Dianne); sister, Yolanda Rodriguez (Armando), along with numerous cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation - Thursday, July 5th, 5:00 PM in the chapel of Porter Loring on McCullough; Rosary at 7:00 PM.

Friday, July 6th, 9:30 AM, Mass ~ St. Matthews Catholic Church, 10703 Wurzbach Rd interment in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
