Marie was born to parents Rosalio & Elvira Galindo on April 30, 1936 in Rio Grande City, Texas. She was blessed to have siblings, all sisters, throughout her live and well into her golden years. Marie served on the Air Force Non-Commissioned Officer Wives Club board while the family was stationed in the Philippines and Turkey. She attended and graduated from Providence College. While working at NISD Esparaza Elementery School, she also went to St. Philips College at night and retired after 30 years of teaching.
When she wasn’t teaching, she was involved with church activities at St. Dominic Catholic Church, specifically in ladies auxiliary. She also did volunteer work at St. Vincent De Paul Society and helped those in need and wanted guidance. She was one of the first faces you’d see if you went there, and one that would be remembered most. She also was in the Thunderbird Hills HOA to make her community great. There were many charities she donated time and money to throughout her life and too many to list them all.
She was devoted to not only God, but to St. Dominic Church and St. Vincent de Paul. Her love for kids and teaching them the word of the Lord was incredibly important to her and impacted all those around her. No matter what time of day it was, she could’ve been seen praying for all our souls to enter Heaven and rejoice in the arms of our Lord.
Marie is preceded in passing by her loving parents, Rosalio & Elvira Galindo; her sisters, Sylvia Barba, Rosie & Yolanda Galindo; along with her beloved husband Charlie L. Brushwood and precious son, Chuck L. Brushwood.
