Marie Ellen Smith

Marie E. Smith, age 79, passed away on the 10th of December 2021 in San Antonio. She was born on October 12, 1942, in Haverhill, MA to Harold and Marjorie. She grew up in Hollywood, FL and attended Florida State University where she met and married an Air Force Officer, Captain William W. Smith on November 26, 1963. While William was active duty; the family spent many years being stationed to numerous Airbases, including a four-year assignment to Germany. Once William retired, Marie went back to college, and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Criminal Justice from The University of Texas at San Antonio in May 1988. After graduation, Marie was hired as an Auditor by the IRS, and worked there for 10 years. After she retired, she continued to assist taxpayers with their taxes; she also volunteered with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program for many years. She enjoyed singing and playing guitar at church through the years and enjoyed singing with The Mission Bells in San Antonio. Her hobbies included sewing, needlework, and stamp collecting. Marie is preceded in death by her husband, William; and survived by her sister Dianne (Billy), her brother Mark (Margaret); her three children Deborah (David), Maureen, and Michael; three grandchildren Michelle, Elizabeth, and Bo; and her great-grandson Grayson.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Porter Loring North Mortuary.
