Marie Averill Stevenson, born June 6, 1915 in Wausau, Wisconsin, passed away at the age of 87. Marie was a graduate of Stout Institute, Menomonie, Wisconsin, and University of Michigan with a BS degree in Home Economics and Hospital Dietetics. Prior to World War II, she was employed as a Therapeutic Dietician at Albany Hospital, N.Y. She served during World War II as a Hospital Dietician at Bolling Field, D.C. and at Station Hospital, Camp Kilmer, NJ with assignment as Chief Dietician aboard the Hospital Ship, Frances Y. Slanger, transporting sick and wounded serviceman from Cherbourg, France and Southampton, England to N.Y. City. Promoted to captain, Marie's last duty assignment before her marriage to O.J. was at Brook General Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter J. and Anna Wickstrom Averill of Merrill, Wisconsin. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, O.J. Stevenson; her son, Gordon Leslie Stevenson; grandson, Taylor Averill Stevenson; special friend, Taffi Stevenson all of Dallas, TX; and a sister, Dorothy Averill of Merrill, Wisconsin.
