Marilyn Wolfe Acre was a wonderful sister, mother and grandmother to fur babies. She passed on Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 25, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 76. She was born in Newark, Ohio to proud parents, William (Bud) and Mildred Wolfe on October 24, 1945.
Marilyn was a proud graduate of Licking Valley High School, Class of 1964, where she excelled in academics and friendliness. She was a type of person who seemed to meet no strangers. She always had a warming personality.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mildred Wolfe, her brother Randy Wolfe, her sister Dolores Brezina (George), her uncles James Wolfe, Leslie Wolfe, Charles Wolfe, and aunts Dorothy Wolfe, Myrtle Wolfe, Marie Wolfe and Mabel Maharg.
She is survived by her brother William Wolfe (Pauline); her children Scott Acre and daughter Tracy Acre Braddock (Timothy); Ex-Husband Richard Acre.
Marilyn spent almost the last four decades in San Antonio, TX. She spent time working at the Cancer Therapy and Research Center. She also worked at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio where shortly after the events of 9-11 she was recruited to enlisted in the Texas State Guard Medical Brigade. She entered as a Sergeant and served with the Texas State Guard supporting the health care mission along the border assisting the military with humanitarian care of border residents. She delightfully served GOD at Oak Hills Church where she volunteered with the Parking Lot and Security Ministries. She also spent several years as a train engineer at Six Flags San Antonio (Fiesta Texas) where due to her small stature, most people assumed she was the platform conductor. She shocked many adults and excited many kids as they saw someone wearing Osh Kosh getting into the engine to steer the train!
Unfortunately, she suffered a series of debilitating strokes that affected her daily life where it was discovered that she had developed Lewy Body dementia. She was placed on hospice care and succumbed to Covid after short battle even though she was vaccinated.
Over the years, she spent many hours bragging on her children. They would not know how much she did this until after she had passed. She will be missed very much.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 14, 2022 at 11am Oak Hills Church. For those interested, we will have a Zoom link for those wanting to pay their respects and practice safe distancing.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local food pantry, Meals on Wheels or senior center in Marilyns honor. She was always feeding others!
