Marilyn Ruth Overman Klinger

Marilyn Ruth Overman Klinger, age 86, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 14, 2009. She was born on January 4, 1923 in Los Angeles, California to Charles and Alma Overman. Marilyn lived most of her life in San Antonio and the last six years in Houston. She graduated from Brackenridge High School and was an active member of its Mid-Thirties Association. She attended her seventieth high school reunion this summer! Marilyn married her high school sweetheart, Paul Emil Klinger, on June 30, 1949 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church. They lived in Colorado and Germany and returned to San Antonio in 1954. Marilyn was extremely active in the Women's Auxiliary to Bexar County Medical Society, St. Margaret's Guild of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, P.T.A., San Antonio Conservation Society, Riverwalk Commission, and Mini Treasures of San Antonio. She was also a devoted member of Chapters DW and EP of P.E.O. Marilyn loved traveling with her husband and family, especially to Europe and to world fairs. She was an incredibly generous person with a delightful sense of humor. She enjoyed doing "random acts of kindness" for others. She will certainly miss all her wonderful neighbors and friends. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Emil Klinger, M.D. She is survived by daughter, Kathy Lloyd Towers; daughter, Marilyn Tom Venne; sister-in-law, Mary Reid; five grandchildren, Emily Derrick Breclaw, Hillary Bob Shenkle, Trey Towers, Natalie Ken Montfort, Robert Tesoro and Stacy Saracho; four great-grandchildren, nieces and great-nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter EP, c/o Jean McArthy, 10910 Brentway, Houston, TX 77070. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 21, 2009 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Family will be present from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Porter Loring, 1101 McCullough.
