

Mario Arnoldo Flores passed away on May 30, 2026. He was born on July 7,1938. He was preceded by his parents, Adan Sr. and Gertrudes Guevara Flores; his brothers, Adan Flores, Jr, and Juan Gilberto Flores; his former wife, Linda Papageorge Flores.
Mario graduated from Willam Adams High School in Alice, Texas in 1957. He attended A&I University in Kingsville, Texas and later served in the US Army including the Army Reserves Unit 416 US Army Engineers at Ft. Sam Houston for over 35 years. He worked for Kelly Air Force Base as Director/Facilities Manager San Antonio, Air Logistics Center. During his career he received numerous awards for his work including two Presidential Awards in recognition of innovations that resulted in significant cost savings for the federal government. After serving at Kelly Air Force Base for over 35 years, he went on to own and operate a successful remodeling company as Mario was exceptionally talented in architectural design and carpentry. He designed and built housing units for seminarians at the San Antonio Archdiocese and renovated St. Leo Catholic Church. He was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church in San Antonio and was a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus.
Mario will be remembered for his friendliness, his bright smile, and good humor. He was a kind, devoted and loving husband to his wife, Gilda Catoe Flores (Dee) and will be immensely missed. He loved his family and was especially proud of his daughter Lisa Marie, his granddaughter, Kyra; his stepson Aaron Javier Catoe, step daughter in law Leigh Anne Catoe and step grandson Ethan Samuel.
He loved music and dancing, maybe even more than most. His favorite was a Mexican singer named Anna Gabriel and of course, Elvis. He enjoyed good food, especially homemade cooking. Dating back, one of his favorites was his mother’s Lemon Meringue pie- she would make an extra pie for Mario to take home.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Gilda Catoe Flores; his daughter, Lisa Marie Lundberg (Keith), Lisa’s daughter, Kyra Wilmes; his stepson Aaron Catoe and his wife Leigh Anne, and their son Ethan Samuel, sister, Mary Gonazalez and sister in law Eva Flores; several nieces and nephews; numerous friends and his beloved 14 year old Shih Tzu, Tobi.
Service are as follows, memorial rosary on June 12, 2026, at Villa De San Antonio St. Anthony’s Chapel, 8103 N. Hollow. Family will receive friends from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM on June 15, 2026 at St. Matthews Catholic Church (10703 Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78230); Mass at 10:00 AM. Lunch to follow at Porter Loring Mortuary (1101 McCullough Avenue, San Antonio, TX 78212) from 11:30am-1:30pm. Following lunch, there will be a procession for internment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery (1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209) with military honors.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Flores, Rene Flores, Roberto Valadez Jr., Esteban Martinez Jr., Rolando Gomez Jr., Mark Gomez, Jeffrey Elizondo, Ricardo Vasquez Sr., Adalberto Martinez. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Rolando Salinas, Mike Urutia, Javier Bazan, Armando Francisco Guerra Jr., Carlos Salinas, Rolando Gomez, Sr., and Phil McClain.
The family kindly invites those who wish to honor Mr. Flores's memory to send flowers or donate in his name to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
