Mario was born on November 9, 1938 in Pochuta, Guatemala to parents Mario and Angela Santizo. He received his education through the PhD program at St. Louis University, followed by his teaching Spanish at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa for 29 years.
In 1999, he and his wife moved to San Antonio, Texas where he taught at University of Incarnate Word.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Minita, and their four children: daughter and son-in-law Lucia and Thomas Kern, and only grandchild, Maya Luz Kern, daughter and son-in-law, Silvia and Jairo Cuenca, son Mario Santizo Jr., and son and daughter-in-law Rodrigo and Alaina Santizo.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 7th from 6:00 P. M. to 9:00 P.M. with a vigil service at 7:30 P.M.at Porter Loring on McCullough.
