Dear Lucille, Gale, Linda and Nancy, 
Dale has always had a special place in my heart: I remember so well, when he wanted to tell us something funny or unbelievable, he would begin with that special laugh of his - then tell us a little of the story, laugh that little laugh again - tell more - till he was finished and we were all laughing hard. 
Dale was a very giving person. If he thought you needed a $10 or $20 there it was, very discretely. 
One time he gave me his water hose roller-upper. He said he would rather roll up his hose by hand. 
Lucille and girls I know these are difficult days. I believe our Lord had His Right Hand on Dale for a long time; not of restraint nor correction nor of chastisiment, but of ineffiable peace and confort and love. 
I rolled up my water hose this morning and it brought joy to my heart. I will roll up my water hose many times, every time a memory of my brother-in-law Dale

I wish I were there to give everyone a hug and have a good cry. I have so many memories from the Rout street house.....The way the telephone made a little ringing sound when anyone walked through the dining room... the owl that hooted from a tree in the back yard.... trying to convince the check-in person at 7-Oaks that Nancy and I were sisters so that I didn't have to pay to get in.... rubbing Noxema ? I think that was it lotion on our really badly sunburned backs after a day of swimming... Nancy's air-conditioned room the only one in the house... Hamburgers and Cokes on Friday night 
oops! Forgot it was Friday... no meat!... oh well, since it's half eaten I may as well finish it:....... 
One specific memory I have from that time period I must have been 12 years old or so, Kathryn and I were spending the night with Nancy and Linda. I was very excited about hanging out with the older girls and was trying hard to fit in. So I told a joke that I heard from some older kids at school. I didn't understand the joke but knew it must be funny and, more importantly, a 'grown-up' joke. Well, Linda marched me in the house to tell the joke to Uncle Dale. I was happy to do this because I really didn't know that I had told a dirty joke. So, I told the joke again... Uncle Dale didn't laugh... It was about then that I figured out that something was wrong with my joke, so of course I cried and cried. Uncle Dale told me I was to NEVER tell that joke again.... which of course I didn't.... in fact, I don't think I told ANY jokes until I was about 25. It was only then that I began to understand which jokes were clean and which were not thanks to Bob Hoge. So, my Uncle Dale taught me that if you are naive you had sure better not repeat ANYTHING you hear until you understand what it means. Thanks Uncle Dale :

Dear Aunt Lucille, Gail, Lynda, Nancy and family, Some of the memories that bring a smile to my face and warmth to my heart: * Uncle Dale, Daddy and Uncle Frank ?discussing? anything?none of them remembered things the same way. 
* The Route Street house. 
* Uncle Dale picking up Saturday morning ?sweets? from the bakery and the weekly dry cleaning. 
* After a Friday night football game, coming back to a pot of divinity candy. 
* Buick vehicles salmon & white and aqua & white 
* Uncle Dale?s little gun on his watch chain. 
* Popsicles from the freezer on the back porchhe kept us supplied 
* Seven Oaks Country Club. 
* The porch swing hanging from the tree on Dubies St. 
* Warm greetings when visiting the house. My childhood memories are filled with him...he was my "Uncle Dale", I loved him and the Lord loves him too.

It is so hard to be so far away during these times. We love you all!

Dear Lucille, Gale, Lynda, and Nancy, 
I had only met Dale several months ago. 
Myself and others had occasion to visit in the home one evening. We all were warmly welcomed by Dale and Lucille. I most enjoyed the stories shared by Dale and Lucille of their early days. I became more aware of their love and devotion to each other, their children and the community of people they met and let into their lives along their journey lasting 68 years. What a blessing for all who came to know and love you. Lucille I know this is a painful time for you, however please know that there is a host of caring family and friends loving on you and praying for you. "trust in the Lord with all your heart, learn not on your own understand, but in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths." Proverb 3:5-6
