On 24 June, 2015, Marjorie Elizabeth Ferguson Herring slipped her earthly bonds and went to dwell with the Lord. She was a Daughter, Wife and Mother of patriots, and a strong Texas woman. Marjorie lived a life that characterized her strong faith in God and love for her family. Her life was dedicated to her family – she was a wonderful, caring and kind mother. Her Christian values and kindness were a model to her children and an inspiration to everyone she met.
Marjorie was born in San Antonio, Texas on 26 December, 1919. She married Alton in 1940 where they built their life together with their four children. Marjorie loved serving the Lord through Bible Study and service to her church and community. She was proudly independent and able to live a full life to the very end – she was a blessing to all who knew her and a remarkable lady.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lillian and C.C. Ferguson; her husband, Alton L. Herring; her grandson, Michael Lee Mowrey and her son-in-law, Gary L. Mowrey. Marjorie is survived by her sons, Lee Herring (Betsy), Jack Herring (Anne), Jim Herring; daughter, Jane E. Mowrey; grandsons, Ben Herring, Chris Herring (Vanessa) and Patrick S. Mowrey; great-grandsons, Max and Wes Herring and numerous extended family members and friends.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all the medical staff and caregivers who lovingly attended our mother during her final days.
