Marjorie June Lowes, 92, went to be with the Lord on November 11, 2015. Born on September 4, 1923 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Alvah and Muriel Dye, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed.
After working as a telephone operator in early adulthood Marj began a 28 year career with Civil Service from which she retired in 1987. She traveled extensively in the United States, Europe and Asia, where she also lived as part of the military community. She enjoyed gardening, reading and volunteering. She was an avid Spurs fan, having been a formidable basketball player herself in her younger days.
Marj is survived by John Lowes, her husband of 38 years; daughters Michelle Werts (Brent) and Lisa Callaham (Garvin); son, Steve Hebron; stepchildren Cathi Thompson (Bill), Mike and Hugh Lowes; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service on Monday, 23 November at 3 pm at Windcrest United Methodist Church. There will be a private interment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
