Marjorie Evelyn Richie

Marjorie Evelyn Richie went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday October 16, 2014 at the age of 84 years, and was born to the union of Eric J. Hasse and Emma M. Kolb on April 7, 1930 in San Antonio, TX.

Graduate of Jefferson High School class of 1947, she was a member of the Lassos drill team and attended Trinity University. She then worked with the railroad at the Missouri Pacific depot for a few years until her marriage when she devoted her time with family, friends and her church.

Marjorie was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where she was baptized, married, taught Sunday school, and participated in various church organizations such as Luther League, Hannah Circle and Christian Fellowship Group. She enjoyed spending time at the family ranch near Floresville where she rode her horse and helped with the cattle. When not with family and friends, her other loves were cooking and baking, for which we are all appreciative, and cheering on the Spurs. Nicknamed Mary Sunshine by our friend Gloria, she continued to gain new friends with her endearing smile.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years Arthur W. Richie, Jr., her parents, in-laws Herman and Lucille Boehme, and Clarence and Evelyn Bippert. Marjorie is survived by her sons Brad and Wayne, numerous nieces and nephews; family and friends.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the care given by Gloria Teegardin, the staff at Patriot Heights Healthcare and Mother Earth Adult Day Health Care.

Family visitation will be held Monday October 20, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Porter Loring Mortuary, 1101 McCullough Ave. Funeral Services will be held 11:00AM Tuesday October 21, 2014 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 502 E. Nueva St., San Antonio, TX. Private interment for the family to follow at Mission Burial Park South.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church, San Antonio, TX.
