

He was a devoted husband and father, a true family man who always put his family first. Mark was a 23 year resident of the San Antonio area, an Eagle Scout and the historian for the A.V.G. Flying Tigers Association for many years.
He was an avid pilot who built his own plane. Mark was a successful competitive marksman, who was proud to have taught his family how to shoot. Mark was a lobbyist for Abbott Laboratories and an active participant in politics.
Mark is survived by his wife of 37 years, Kris; daughter, Lindsay Burken Smith , husband Tyler and granddaughter, Norah of Cypress, Texas; son, Alexander Burken, wife Stephanie, grandson Jayden and granddaughter Caydence of San Antonio, Texas; brothers, Roger Burken and Tom Penney; sister, Melissa Hamman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
