Martha Ruth Garza

December 28, 1950June 18, 2019

Martha Ruth Garza, 68, was called by the Lord on June 18, 2019. She was born in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico on December 28, 1950. She and her parents along with her two brothers came to the United States when she was 2 years old. Her parents wanted to give their children a better life with many opportunities in the US. Martha was raised with great family values and most of all, a Christian home. Martha graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1969. She always talked about how proud she was graduating from Jefferson High School. After high school, she married and started working for Southwestern Bell for the next 34 years. During that time, she had a daughter, and raised her with all her strength and provided all she could with her love. After she retired, she became a Substitute Teacher for NEISD for the next 8 years. She truly loved working with Special Needs children. Unfortunately, cancer took over her but she still had that beautiful smile and that witty sense of humor to keep her going, even until the end of her life. She will be missed greatly. Martha is preceded by her parents and sister. She leaves behind a daughter, Deborah Marie Garza Aelvoet; 3 grandchildren, Hannah Rose Aelvoet, Zachary Thomas Aelvoet, and Paige Marie Aelvoet; two brothers, Benjamin Hernandez Jr; Sister-In-Law, Mary’ Joseph Hernandez and Sister-In-Law, Sonia. Three Nephews, Benjamin Hernandez III, wife Ann, John Hernandez, wife Sonia. Jonathan Hernandez and one Niece, Annette Hernandez. Her two great-nephews, Joshua Hernandez, Benjamin Hernandez IV and two great-nieces, Elizabeth Hernandez and Sophia Hernandez. She also leaves behind her best friend and companion of 30 years, Terry Hass. This beautiful woman will be greatly missed.

Hard to believe that you is gone from this Earth, friends and Family. Gone from us, but now in the presence of Our Lord in Heaven.
She was a good friend and companion to know.
More than all that, she was a good Mother to Deborah Marie.
She was well loved and respected by her grandchildren, Hannah, Zachary and Paige.
Not enough words to say all this and more.

I am already and will miss you forever...

GOD looked around his Garden & he found and empty place. He looked down upon the earth and saw your precious face. He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest. He knew that you were suffering he knew you were in pain. He knew you'd n...
ever ever get well on earth again, so He closed your weary eyelids and whispered "Peace be Thine".Then He took you up to Heaven so gentle and kind..It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone..for part of us went with you the day God welcomed you home.
Martha there are too many memories to mention 1st grade-12th grade is a long time, but not long enough.I'll always miss, and love you, Carolyn (Carrie)

Thank you for many years of fun. We shared laughter and tears. After leaving San Antonio and returning I looked you up and there you were funny, and crazy as ever. A sweet person with a lovely daughter. What brought us together was the fact that both our girls were Debbie .I remember meeting at your house because you were providing for your MoM.You were a good daughter as Debbie has grown to be a good Mom and daughter. I remember many hrs of just talking when I went to visit. I am glad I was able to talk to you on the phone ,one last time.I have many fond memories, thank you.
