

Martha "Marti" Garza Henderson, of San Antonio, died Tuesday, January 13, 2015. Martha's serious and courageous battle with cancer while stressful, chronic, and painful, was handled with great trust and faith in her Lord and Savior.
Throughout her life and during her illness, Martha was extremely generous to her immediate siblings, her young nephews and nieces, and friends. Martha attended Sidney Lanier High School where she proudly participated in the Blue Jackets Pep Squad.
It was at Sidney Lanier where she learned the true value of learning for the "sake of learning" and of the rewards in obtaining an excellent college preparatory education - lessons she was to later pass on to her siblings, friends, nieces and nephews and probationers.
She traveled the world over as a youthful Eastern Airline Stewardess. Tiring of flying throughout Europe and South America, she then attended the University of Texas of the Permian Basin where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications.
Being a career minded individual, and in the hope of creating a better society and community, Martha served twenty-six honorable and proud years as probation officer with the Bexar County Adult Probation Department.
As a faithful servant of the Lord, Martha attended San Fernando Cathedral; where, as a joyful member of the classical choir, she lifted her spirited voicefull of love, praise, harmony, and worship; she participated as a joyful member of the classical chorus at San Fernando Cathedral.
Martha will be remembered by her countless, loving, and caring friends for her youthful laugh, smile, and fun-loving ways at family gatherings, social, and Church functions.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Henderson and her parents Serafin Acosta Garza and Cecilia Lopez Garza.
She is survived by her sister, Cecilia M. Spencer (Richard); brothers Serafin L. Garza, Richard L. Garza (Irene V.), Gilbert L. Garza (Melissa M.), Albert L. Garza (Blanca J.) Martha's nephews and nieces whom she loved and nurtured as though her own children are: Adrian, Emma, Noah; Dorinda, Tabatha, Joey, Jackie, James; Michael (Sylvia) and their children Raiden, Jubilee Nicholas; Alyssa; Haley; Christian (Janet) and their children Sofia, Maribel, Christian, & Helena; Marc; Catherine; Jessica; and Jayleigh.
