Martha Lynn (Randle) Kumpf, age 93, joined her Heavenly Father on Thursday, April 5, 2018 and was welcomed by her husband of their 67-year marriage, Kenneth J. Kumpf. She was born on April 13, 1924 in Lockhart to Ernest and B.T. (Davis) Randle. Following high school graduation, the family transferred to San Antonio permanently.
She was secretary to SAISD’s Asst. Supt., L.W. Fox, Dir. Of Vocational Education, and later in offices of other schools. She was a reporter for the Southside Reporter for a number of years including the last year there as News Editor. She was a member of Crestholme Presbyterian Church serving as a church officer and was a member of the Choir over 55 years. She volunteered with her husband 25 years with AARP’s Income Tax Counseling.
Survivors include her only son, David Kenneth Kumpf; her brother, Baylor Randle (Janet); nieces, Deborah Hamrick (Richard), and Pat Randle, all of this city, plus two step-grandsons, Peyton Biggs (Kristen) of Leesburg, VA, and Ryan Biggs (Aleina), Anchorage, Alaska, and two step-great-grandchildren, Caroline and Henry Biggs, of Leesburg, VA. Also surviving her is a former daughter-in-law, Jo Ann Biggs, of Leander. A niece, Linda Randle McBee, preceded her in death in March 2016.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 13th at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 pm with the Funeral Service to follow at 3:00 pm. While Mom loved flowers, if that is your choice, they will be welcomed. However, if you prefer, you may make a donation to the charity of your choice.
