Martin Marty Col. Harper

Col. Martin "Marty" Harper, age 66, passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on February 26, 1952 in Jackson MS., to his parents, Macey Lee and Laura Lee Harper. Col. Harper was a graduate of the USAF Academy. Marty served twenty-six years in the Air Force before retiring; continued his career in Hospital Administration as a civilian on Ft. Sam Houston. He married Charlotte Lynn Hurst of Swansboro, NC on April 14, 1979. Together they raised three wonderful children, Amy, Adam and Patty. Marty and Charlotte collected memories and friends over the two decades of being stationed in various locations prior to their final assignment in San Antonio. He had a thirst for knowledge and the humility to apply it. He also enjoyed reading, fishing, Bible study, investing and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Macey L. Harper. Col. Harper is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Charlotte Harper; daughter, Amy Harper Elkins; son, Adam Harper; daughter, Patricia Harper; mother, Laura L. Schwarzburg; sisters: Linda Lisa Clark, Lauri Anne Hoyt, and Emmy Marie Stone; grandchildren: Elena, Evan, and Asher Elkins; Aubrey, Conner, Vivienne, and Logan Mimun; Faolan and Brannan Harper. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 8:00pm, Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
