i just heard Marty had passed. I worked with her during several disasters. She was a very sweet person. Always had a smile and a kind or funny word. It was a Blessing to know her.

I just learned of her passing. I was blessed to share some Crim classes with Marty. She was one of those students that was unforgettable. She had a positive presence & her life experiences really enhanced the classes & my life. 
I wish I knew sooner =( Thank you Marty for being such a strong female role model. I took a class in Hostage Negotiations because of you and I loved it. I wish I could tell you how awesome you are or how positive of an influence you were on us female Crim majors.

I'm so sorry to hear of such a loss. I attended several negotiator training sessions with het. She excelled at this and inspired me. We pray for her and her families loss. She will be truly missed but never forgotten.

Marty was very supportive of us over the years at the Alamo, and she was my favorite SAPD contact; the one I was most happy to see when she stopped by for a visit. She arranged and conducted some outstanding training sessions and always kept us informed on potential threats.

I knew Marty since she first joined the SAPD.She and I played volleyball together and over the years became friends as well as co-workers. Marty was a mentor and friend. She was a strong person with a good heart. Never once did she turn, down a request to share words of wisdom with students, encouraging them to further their education, just as she did, while sharing her passion for the profession. Troy -your song tribute was moving- what an amazing gift to share with Marty ? I?m sure she was smiling down on you. She loved her Negotiator family- Troy, Willie and back then Sgt. Gruchacz, and the rest of you all, she held you in the highest esteem. It?s been at least 12 years since I first had the honor of meeting Marty, and even back then it was evident that there was something unique about her?reflected by her commitment, passion and contributions to the community. My prayers go out to her family?all her ?family? including those in blue, ?the City of San Antonio has lost a top negotiator and we have lost a friend. I will pray for an ALS cure and for the safety of our women and men in blue. I worked with Marty during all the hurricane activations from Katrina to Ike at the San Antonio Emergency Operations Center. I was a Chief in the SAFD, retiring in August of last year. I was fortunate to have known Marty for the last 14 years as a dispatcher for SAPD....I remember when I had my first hostage situation and she was one of the negotiators involved....she was real cool, calm and collected, and she was really nice, and cracked a joke, since I was a boot dispatcher, yes, nervous.. still learning what to do....she called me...and walked me thru it, with my trainer at my side. And it was with that grace, patience and her valuable knowledge that she got me thru it all...It is true of what everyone saysof her ....she made me a better person because I knew her...she will be sooo missed and she will be forever loved!
