Marvalee Ann (Hacker) Beauchemin, 92, passed away at her home of 49 years on Monday, April 27, 2026. The daughter of the late Steve Benjamin and Annie Elizabeth (Black) Hacker, Marvalee was born in San Antonio, Texas, on June 27, 1933 the 3rd of 6 siblings. She graduated from South San Antonio High School in 1950 and, in the years that followed, worked for Sears and the San Antonio Drug Company, where she was held in great esteem.
She was working at Kelly Air Force Base, where she met her husband, Gerald Richard Beauchemin. She often told the story of how they met at the Officers’ Club in the spring of 1962. They were married in San Antonio on March 14, 1963.
Marvalee was a prolific, self-taught painter whose works now hang in homes and churches across the country. Raised on a dairy farm in San Antonio, she rose from humble beginnings to build a life that took her far beyond Texas and as far north as Anchorage, Alaska. She loved classic country music, books, history, sewing, and had a gift for storytelling that will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Lori, son-in-law, David, granddaughters, Kristin, Danielle, and Jenine, and great-grandchildren, Ardyn and Eva. As well as her brother Patrick (Edna) Hacker, sister, Darlene Preiss and many beloved nieces and nephews.
San Antonio will never be the same without her creative and curious heart, and the stories she shared will live on with those who loved her.
The family will receive guests from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, May 10, 2026, at Porter Loring Mortuary, 1101 McCullough Ave.
A funeral service will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Monday May 11, 2026, at Porter Loring Mortuary.
Marvalee will be interred with her beloved husband at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
