I frequently recall my six years of working with Marvin in the Emergency Operations Center at Health Services Command.  Marvin was a smart, dedicated and enjoyable person and soldier with whom I shared many  and diverse experiences.  A quality guy.

Marvin and I worked next to each other for six years in the Emergency Operations Center for Health Services Command.  If you can think of a positive word........that positive applied to Marvin.  He was an exemplary soldier, father and husband.  Also, my friend.

Marvin was one of the best if not the best co-workers, friend, and superb military man that I had the pleasure of knowing.  We worked together, laughed together and accomplished a lot while we sat back to back in the EOC for six years.......

The passing of Uncle Marvin is a loss not only to family and friends, but to everyone who needs an example to live by.  His love for his family is unmatched, and his kindness, and generosity should be a guide for all to live by. The times that he and Aunt Marie hosted us in California, are some of the greatest times that I have had.  The miles can keep people apart...but the fine memories always remain. The United States owes him a debt for his lifetime service, that was always upheld with the utmost dignity. I remember Ft. Hood as a little boy, with the babysitter while Uncle Marvin, Aunt Marie, and Mom and Dad went dancing. The memories are endless, and we offer our deepest condolences to the Ring family. Marvin Ring ....  was one of a kind and a perfect example of how we should live our lives.  He was humble, selfless and caring for all who he came in touch with daily, serving others as a true reflection of Jesus. Taught me many valuable lessons like care and listen like you want to be, pick your battles,  know the power of forgiveness and learn from it.  He loved God,  his Family, his Country and his Soldiers unconditionally.  Thank you Marvin for making me laugh and enjoy our season in the journey of life

Grandpa Ring, was  a wonderful man! He graciously invited me into his home when I was younger and was a fantastic role model.  He loved unconditionally, and challenged when needed to make us better. He served his country selflessly. I remember when I got to go to the room with no windows, as so many have mentioned. What an exciting life you lead, and now you are at peace! Thank you for the memories, and I look forward to seeing you in heaven one day soon!

Marvin and I served together in the Emergency Operations Center for Health Services Command from May, 1984 to April, 1990.  Six years in a windowless, secure facility that I enjoyed because of soldiers like Marvin.  We felt that we had a mission that mattered to the medical readiness of HSC and we worked hard.   Marvin was the consummate professional with a great sense of humor (he would laugh until he cried).  Six years............and I NEVER has an unkind or negative thought about Marvin............think about that FACT.



It is with a heavy heart that I must accept the passing of my dearest friend Marvin L. Ring.  We shared a special brotherhood in the Armed Services of the USA and thereafter, when he continued his  most respected public servant excellence as a Department of the Army Civilian at the then US Army Health Services Command (HSC).  For many years we worked together in  a windowless, special secure facility, where we addressed operational matters with importance to our command.  The long hours spent in this locked down facility were made easily tolerant because of associates like Marvin Ring.  He was exceedingly competent and also compassionate in the understanding of the work stressors that affected those in the unique facility.  He provided the temperament that helped ameliorate all challenges, and at the same time influenced favorably the continuity of operations.  He was a brilliant and most respected plans and operations specialist that contributed daily to the important medical mission of the command.   Of most value, Marvin was admired for the very special attention he placed on the importance of family.  He was an exceptional and beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and more to his beautiful family, and he will be always be remembered as a kind brother to those who truly benefited and  appreciated his most caring ways.  My good friend was afflicted by a most difficult and challenging illness during his latter years in life.  He fought the long disease like the resilient warrior that he always was, with determination, fortitude, and dignity.  I know that his soul lies in heaven and that the Lord has place His most caring hand over Marie, and their loving family.  We all are better because we shared Marvin’s kindness, and we will forever grieve his loss.  I know I will always and  strongly value our personal friendship, and pray that the Ring family will be eternally blessed.

Mr. Ring was my neighbor. He was the nicest man. Always pleasant. I remember him watering the yard about everyday. I know he was sick for many years. May he rest in peace and prayers for his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Samuel, and sisters Frances and Henny. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Marie; children Mynda Taylor (Kent), Marian Keith (Casey), and Marvin Ring, Jr. (Julie); seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers Louis and Henry; sister Ruth Long; extended family; and friends.
