First born of three daughters to Lebanese parents, Elias and Hannah Allen, Marry was a trained nurse assistant and worked for 40 years in the medical field, which she dearly loved. She was fluent in Arabic, Spanish and English. Mary had great love for San Antonio.
A graduate of Ursaline Academy, she was active in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, St. George Maronite Church, the San Antonio Conservation Society, and was an enthusiastic Spurs fan. Mary generously volunteered in many community and civic organizations. She and her sisters, Roseann Allen Anderson and Julie Allen Ficke, were inseparable during life.
She never failed to offer extreme consideration and kindness to everyone. In the end her memory faded, but our hearts will always remember her. We praise God for blessing and teaching us through the life of this good woman, "a pearl of great price."
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her sister, Julie Ficke; and her grandnephew, Mark Pasquale Perillo.
Mary is survived by her sister, Roseanne Anderson; cousin, Nancy de la Rosa of Sebastian, Texas; two nieces, Judy Pat Anderson Perillo and Mary Ann Jim Lightbody of Houston; and one nephew, Michael Cheryl Anderson of San Antonio; and their children and children's children: Sarah Perillo and Amy Mark Perillo Tovar of San Antonio, Justin, Jessica, and Jordan Lightbody of Houston, and Bethany Perillo and Mikaela Perillo-Rosas, of San Antonio.
Our family extends humble thanks to the staff of St. Francis Nursing Home who provided loving care to Mary in her last days. They were a true family for her.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Francis Nursing Home, or a charity of your choice.
