Mary Vance Bohls

She was survived by her husband Carl Bohls; son and daughter-in-law Chalmer and Anita Bohls; daughter and son-in-law Julia West Bohls McLoy and Lee McLoy; grandchildren Ainsley McLoy and Conner McLoy; and sisters Libba Barnes and Toby Tate. She was preceded in death by her sister, Jo McNamee, and her parents, Dodie and Mac McClelland.

Vancie was an easygoing soul who never met a stranger. She was known for her sincerity and genuineness, as well as her generosity of spirit.

Her best friend was whomever she was sitting next to at the time. Known to her family as "Saint Vancie," she was a world-class champion at refereeing difficult situations.

Vancie loved to travel just as much as she loved staying at home and watching the birds outside her window.

Her family knew never to get between Vancie and a sunset at the ranch, with which she had a standing appointment to marvel at every opportunity she could. After the sun was down and the birds were sleeping, sometimes you'd have to call her name several times to get her attention away from the current book she was nose-deep in - that is, when she wasn't up to plotting some sort of mischief.

Vancie was a member of the San Antonio Country Club, the Argyle, the Military Civilian Club, the Battle of Flowers Association, Delta Delta Delta, Los Compadres, and the Junior League. She attended Saint Mary's Hall, Briarcliff College, and the University of Texas.

Her family will deeply feel the loss of her calm stability and boisterous laugh.
