Mary Tucker Carrion, known lovingly to family and friends as Mary Tucker, was born on September 24, 1947, in Los Angeles County, California, and passed away on April 18, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 78.
She was a woman of deep Christian faith whose life reflected grace, perseverance, and devotion to God. Mary lived a life that was both faith-filled and spirited, and those who knew her will remember her warm sense of humor and her ability to bring comfort and encouragement to others. Her life was marked by a steady trust in the Lord, and she found strength in prayer, Scripture, and the daily practice of turning her heart toward God.
Mary earned a Bachelor of Science degree and devoted her working life to serving others as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor. In that role, she offered guidance, compassion, and hope to many who were facing difficult seasons. Her work was not simply a profession, but a ministry of care and understanding. She approached others with patience and dignity, and she carried herself with the kind of wisdom that came from both education and lived faith.
She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose family meant the world to her. She was preceded in death by her father, Merlin Howard Tucker; her mother, Margaret Viola Cross; her step-father, Glenn Cross; her brother, Woody Tucker; her sister, Sandra Tucker; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Wilson and her son, Gregory Cole Wilson. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Esther O Wilson; her daughter, Jamie L Smith; her son, Robert Wilson; and her son and daughter-in-law, Erin and Michele Walker. She also leaves behind a large and loving family of grandchildren, Brandon Wilson (Vanessa), Jeremy Wilson (Destinee), Gabriella Wilson, Keanna Dawson (Edward), Aviance Hurd (Spencer), D'Kari Smith, Raven Jackson (Beau), Jack Wilson, Dylan Wilson, Gabrielle Wilson and Cain Walker, as well as 13 great-grandchildren who brought joy and pride to her heart.
Mary found delight in the simple and meaningful things of life. She enjoyed reading Christian books, daily devotionals, and she treasured her daily God time spent reading her Bible. She also enjoyed Sudoku puzzles and mystery computer games, pastimes that reflected her thoughtful and curious mind. Her days were often centered on faith, reflection, and the quiet joys that brought her peace.
She will be remembered as a woman who loved the Lord and sought to live each day with purpose. Her Christian faith was not only something she believed, but something she practiced in her words, her actions, and the way she cared for others. She encouraged those around her to keep going, to trust God, and to hold fast to hope even in difficult times. Her family and friends will cherish the memory of her laughter, her wisdom, and her steadfast presence.
The family extends a special thanks to the staff at Legend Oaks West nursing home, where Mary was a resident, for their kindness and care. They also express sincere gratitude to the Vitas Hospice team that oversaw her care with compassion and professionalism during her final days. Their support was deeply appreciated and will not be forgotten.
Mary Tucker Carrion’s life was a testimony to faith, love, and endurance. She has now entered into the presence of her Savior, where there is perfect peace and eternal rest. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of devotion, humor, and Christian witness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A memorial service will take at 3:00 p.m., on Sunday, May 3, at Porter Loring Mortuary West.
