Mary Catherine graduated from Alamo Heights High School in 1976 and attended Sul Ross University. Throughout her career, she worked at St. David's Episcopal School, Clear Channel Communications, and The Children's Shelter Thrift Store.
Mary Catherine found great joy in gardening, caring for her many beloved dogs and cats, and opening her home to family and friends. She loved bringing people together for celebrations, weekend happy hours, and countless gatherings filled with laughter, friendship, and hospitality.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Josephine Spencer Hill and Herbert Wheeler Hill Sr.
She is survived by her son, Michael Higgins, and his wife, Devon; her cherished grandsons, Hudson James Higgins and Emmet Kahl Higgins; her brothers, Herbert Wheeler "Herb" Hill Jr. and his wife Linda, and John S. Hill and his wife, Holly; her sister, Sally Furgerson and her husband, Gary; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom will miss her deeply.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 315 E. Pecan Street, San Antonio, Texas 78205. The service will be officiated by The Reverend Beth Knowlton and The Reverend John S. Hill.
Honorary pallbearers are Carole Adamek, Sylvia Dover, Jennifer Bird, Alesia Roland, and Adam Roland.
