Mary Espitia Chavez

Mary E. Chavez passed away on May 22, 2016. She was born in San Antonio, TX on June 17, 1930 to Porfirio Rodriguez and Herminia Espitia Rodriguez. Mary attended Fox Tech High School, went to St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church, and was a member of the Norteno Social Club. Mary and her husband Roberto raised six children. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, traveling, dancing, and listening to her husband perform and sing at numerous functions. She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Simon Rodriguez, Jesus Rodriguez, Ralph Rodriguez, and Ismael Rodrigues. She is remembered by her husband, Robert A. Chavez; children Rene Chavez, Robert A. Chavez Jr. (Reyna), Rebecca Gonzales (Santiago), Ruby Mejia, Ralph Randy Chavez (Norma), and Russell A. Chavez; siblings Porfirio Rodriguez Jr., Joe Rodriguez; and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will begin Wednesday June 1, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. with rosary to be held at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Mass will be celebrated at 9:45 am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with interment to follow in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Thomas More.
