Mary Lee Cox fell asleep in Jesus's arms on Friday, November 20, 2020 at 10:52am. She was born July 16, 1923, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. At age 11, Mary Lee was baptized into the First Christian Church. On January 3, 1940, she married Ray E. Cox, Sr., the love of her life. They spent 68 years together, happily raising their five children. As a military family, they particularly enjoyed traveling together and held many happy memories of the six years they lived in Europe.
Mary Lee was preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Scott Jacobson; her husband, Ray, Sr.; and her son, Ray, Jr. “Butch” as he was lovingly called by the family. She is survived by her devoted children: Kaye Jacobson (Donnie), Michael Lee Cox, Janet Ann Sangiuliano (Art), and Kirkham Dane Cox; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Cox; six grandchildren: Candy Banda (Carlos), Jessica Reyes (Carlos), Desiree Jemal (Richard), Mike Sangiuliano (Aislin), David Ray Sangiuliano (Mandie), and Selina Ray Schmidt (Theodore). Mary Lee is also survived by eight great-grandchildren: Marissa Banda (Stephan), Briana Sangiuliano, James Jemal, Giovanni Reyes, Julia Jemal, Danielle Rae Jemal, Emerson Ray Sullivan-Sangiuliano, and Emily Jemal.
Mary Lee’s family loved her immensely and will miss her dearly. She will forever be remembered for her kindness, generosity, patience, and loving spirit. Services will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at a later date, when her loved ones can gather in her honor. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
