Mary Beth Daugherty died peacefully in her sleep the morning of October 21 at the age of 93. She died in her own bed at Argent Court in Seguin where she has been loving cared for over the last fourteen years. Her beloved husband of 57 years, Lou, predeceased her 15 years ago. Over the years, she also grieved the loss of her brother Junior Harrison, sister Margaret Harrison, and grandson Alec Horgan. She is survived by her children, Terry Daugherty of San Antonio, Dianne Horgan of Tucson, and their children, David and Steven Daugherty and Kelly Horgan, and great grandchildren Taryn and Chance Daugherty.
Mary Beth was born in Oklahoma City where, as a toddler, she met her future husband when he knocked a flowerpot over on her head. The relationship improved from there. After graduating from Capitol Hill High school, she married Louis. As the quintessential Air Force wife, she dutifully followed Lou around the world and kept the home fires burning when he was away, always making it look easy. They returned to San Antonio after Lou retired. Not having had quite enough of traveling, they toured the U.S. in their motorhome, always taking their beloved and spoiled Westies. Mary Beth deeply loved dogs and will be especially pleased if her favorite dog Pepper is waiting for her by the Pearly Gates.
Mary Beth was a devoted mother and always eager to be homeroom mother, PTA member, Lasso mom, or chaperone. She passed on many life lessons but none more important than providing unconditional love and support to her family. Known to all as the kindest of the kind, she was always eager to support others. As the wife of the squadron leader, she was there for troubled wives who were often far from home and in need of a friend.
She was a talented seamstress, making beautiful clothes for herself and daughter Dianne. The grandchildren delighted in her wonderful Halloween costumes.
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 30, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Porter Loring Mortuary on McCullough.
